Hello, I have recently become the owner of a Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross 2018 model. It does not have an ignition key switch but only a keyless operation key system. The battery on the keyless operation key fob was low so I have swapped it out for new one. I could not get the car to start without holding the key on the engine switch and then my foot on the clutch. The car started without any issue but upon exiting the vehicle, the door would not lock with the keyless operation key. I had to remove the key from the key fob to lock the door manually. Upon unlocking and entering the vehicle again, it still required me to place the key on the engine switch to get the car to start.
Have I done something wrong with changing the batter? Do I need to reprogram the keyless operation key with the car? Unfortunately when I purchased the car it did not come with any other key and I only have this one. It is also a shame the car did not come with a manual ignition switch to avoid using this keyless system altogether. Any help would be hugely appreciated!
